Dear Kula (Yoga Family),
I have made a big decision to take a sabbatical from teaching public classes at the studio for an extended period of time.
As hard as it is to stop teaching at my own studio, it is a decision that came in crystal clear as I was sitting in the doctors office getting the news that another kidney stone had appeared. My acupuncturists (Sandra Moore and Jessica Tulius) have been telling me for years that my kidneys and adrenals have been very weak and that I needed to slow down. My story has always been, “but I can’t!” As the sole provider for my boys, just having built a house, running a business in Crested Butte, and the responsibilities of teaching several teacher trainings across the country (and overseas), it is very difficult to figure out HOW to slow down.
As a yoga teacher and mentor for many, it is clear that this is an opportunity for me to learn how to do this for myself so that I can support others in finding more balance in their lives as well. So the decision to stop teaching in between my travels so that I could get more rest when I’m home was an obvious solution. I will miss my students and this great love of teaching at the studio, but I hope you all understand that I really need to focus on my health right now and need this time to rest.
On a good note, the blessing in the situation is that I feel fully confident in the Prana Vinyasa teachers that have been trained through our teacher training program to be able to take over my classes.
It was a huge realization for me that I have personally trained so many of the teachers at the studio and how lucky I am to have so many excellent teachers on staff. That said, I think it is a great opportunity for you all to get to know these fabulous yoginis that are very dedicated to their practice, teaching, and living yoga. Jackie Just leads the pack of all the PV teachers, and after 3 years of teaching, she has much to offer!
I will also be handing the reins to Jackie to write the letters in the newsletter and know you will enjoy her charismatic writing, managing the studio, as well as teaching. Please give our dear Miss Jackie your support and recognition for how far she has come in her teaching, where she has taken the studio, and the embodied yogini she has become. I am so grateful!
You will all be in my heart and I will be seeing you in class, as I take the opportunity to enjoy taking class with all our wonderful teachers when I am in town!
Love and Blessings
